Since the time of King Henry VIII the George & Dragon, Chipstead has been offering hospitality to locals and visitors. Renovated by new owner Benjamin James in 2009, his mission was to breathe life back into a beautiful but tired sixteenth-century pub, using tasteful decor, a roaring log fire and a menu that changes daily and uses the best of what the local farms in Kent, Sussex and Surrey have to offer.
The real open fire, heavy oak beams, solid furnishings and original features make this gastropub the perfect venue for a casual lunch, dinner with friends, or romantic dinner for two. Spread over two floor since its renovation, it allows customers to enjoy food and drinks in the bar with it's open fire, in the beamed splendour of the upstairs dining room or for more intimate parties, enjoy the treehouse inspired private dining room.
At its heart the George & Dragon, Chipstead remains a local village pub offering a warm welcome, friendly hospitality and excellent food. The menu changes daily reflecting what produce is available locally, and the team of talented chefs work passionately everyday to use the best produce from the surrounding countryside. Everything is fresh, seasonal and where possible local.
