Pegwell Bay is an ideal bay for exploring, as it is home to a large stretch of sea cliffs, and is an area of great geological interest. The bay itself is a Nature Reserve of international importance as it is home to a range of seashore birds and wildlife found nowhere else in East Kent.
Birdwatchers may even get a chance to spot wading birds and birds of prey, and are permitted to use the bird hide, which is accessible for disabled visitors.
Be Beach Safe. This means checking the weather and the tides, keeping an eye on your family, and not using inflatables. In an emergency, call 999 for the Coastguard.
Ample car parking is available, managed by Kent County Council (charges £2 per day Monday-Friday, or £3 for weekends and Bank Holidays for cars. £9 for minibus.)
* Pegwell Bay Country Park, part of the Sandwich and Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve nearby, received a 'Green Flag Award 2022' from Keep Britain Tidy *
