Extending across nearly 300 acres, Shorne Woods Country Park offers a wide range of natural habitats to enjoy. Historically part of the pleasure grounds of the Cobham Hall Estate, the area was used for clay extraction for the local cement industry from the 1920s to the 1970s. The old clay pits created the flat, grassy areas that are now home to the picnic and play areas, Visitor Centre and car park. Prior to this, the whole of the Park would have been covered by ancient woodland.
There are many ways to enjoy your recreation time in the Park - picnic and play areas, trim trail and orienteering, fishing, waymarked trails and there is an Easy Access Trail suitable for prams and wheelchairs. There are two Tramper mobility vehicles that are available free on loan - visit the Visitor centre to find out more.
