‘Licet Esse Beatis’ sits above the front door of Squerryes Court. It means ‘permitted to be joyful’ - they have been in the business of creating joy for nearly 300 years and now they are bottling it.
They only use fruit grown and handpicked from their 36 acre vineyard, part of the 2,500 acre Squerryes Estate, located high on the North Downs at the ‘Gateway to the Garden of England’, their vines grown on a pure white chalk seam fed by a mineral rich aquifer nestling deep below the spiritual Pilgrim’s Way.
They have a huge amount of respect for their terroir and pride themselves on minimal intervention, working with nature to grow the finest fruit for their vintage sparkling wine.
Tutored tastings: they offer a ‘Flight of Squerryes’, up to four of their finest vintage sparkling wines at their Winery.
Tours: self-guided of their smaller vineyard at the Winery. ‘Spirit of our Terroir’ and ‘Spirit of our House’ at their private vineyard for groups of eight or more (pre-booked only).
