Canterbury Festival is proud to announce the return of Luxmuralis with a new groundbreaking light show that transports visitors back in time to the captivating world of the Anglo-Saxon era and the exquisite art of illuminated manuscripts. Set against the stunning backdrop of St Augustine’s Abbey and The King’s School, this immersive outdoor experience promises to mesmerize audiences with a fusion of historical imagery, modern technology and captivating soundscapes. Through meticulous research and innovative techniques, the artists bring to life the rich narratives, intricate patterns and vibrant colours that define this remarkable period in history – featuring world famous collections of the British Library.
Accompanying the visual spectacle is a series of bespoke sound artworks, produced specifically to complement and enhance the themes explored, transporting visitors to the heart of the Anglo-Saxon world. Embark on a journey through time, as the historic ruins of the abbey become a canvas for an unforgettable multi-sensory spectacle for all ages. Fantastic Tales and Where to Find Them is a collaboration between Canterbury Festival and renowned light and sound artists Luxmuralis, supported by English Heritage. The tour is expected to take 45 minutes and requires walking and navigating steps in limited light. Not suitable for those sensitive to flashing lights. For all ages – Under 2s free.
