A public lecture by Professor Margot Finn University College London Margot Finn FBA is Professor of Modern British History at University College London and President of the Royal Historical Society.
She specialises in Britain and the British colonial world in the nineteenth century with particular emphasis on the family, gender, material culture and transnational encounters. Her talk on women in British India will draw upon her most recent research and publications : the Leverhulme Trust-funded research project ‘The East India Company at Home’, an open access volume of essays co-edited with Kate Smith (UCL Press 2018), and 'Imperial Family Formations: Domestic Strategies and Colonial Power in British India, c.1757-1857' (forthcoming).
