Hever Castle Christmas Experience

22nd November – 3rd January

Our childhood dreams are coming true this year at Hever Castle, as we’re making plans to be waking up in our very own private bedroom in one of the castle’s wings! Four poster beds, roll top baths, and modern-day luxuries in a traditional setting are calling us this Christmas, and where better to answer than at one of Kent’s finest castles? Get comfortable in your home away from home as you delight in the magic of the Christmas Experience, where twinkling Christmas lights, encounters with Santa, and enchanting trails await.

Rochester Dickensian Christmas Festival

7th -8th December

We couldn’t have a round up of Christmas breaks in Kent without including one of our favourite events of the year - the Rochester Dickensian Christmas Festival, celebrating the season in the most Victorian, literary, and lively way possible. Each year, we wait on tenterhooks for their programme to be released, so keep your eye out on their website and join us in counting down the days to this Dickensian take on the most wonderful time of the year.

Bridgewood Manor Hotel

And once you’ve enjoyed all of the Victorian fun that the Dickensian Christmas Festival has to offer, it’s time for some rest and relaxation at the Bridgewood Manor Hotel. Take advantage of the spa facilities and the Health Club, both the perfect places to unwind and relax before heading to their onsite restaurant, Squire. Here, sit back and enjoy a hearty meal from a diverse menu, whether you fancy a warming shepherds pie or a Trinidadian goat curry made by Head Chef Colin. Tuck into your meal, then tuck into a freshly made bed at the end of the day, content and cosy as can be.

Mission Christmas at The Historic Dockyard Chatham

Families, get your tickets for Mission Christmas at The Historic Dockyard Chatham where it’s All Elves on Deck as the festive sub-station workers reveal the tricks of the trade at the Elf Accademy. Little Elf Apprentices will love this extra special festive treat that will unlock the magic of Christmas and round off the day with a gift from Father Christmas himself.

Dover

Visit White Cliffs Country and you’ll find plenty to keep you busy this winter. From a not-to-be-missed walk along those iconic White Cliffs of Dover (cameras at the ready), to wintry beach wanders and visits back in time to the region’s three(!) English Heritage castles of Dover, Deal and Walmer, those wintry days out are set. What’s more, Dover’s towns of Deal and Sandwich are waiting to be discovered, with Sandwich’s festive boat trips and Deal’s buzzy street markets and independent shops that are just made for a little gift-seeking. When evening draws in, you’ll also have your pick of places to stay, from the 17th century The Lantern Inn in Martin Mill, to the luxury boutique accommodation of the Marquis of Granby in the gorgeous village of Alkham. For cosy pub vibes the Black Pig B&B is perfect, while rural retreat seekers will love the Shepherds Hut at Spitfire Barn, which offers rolling countryside, hot tub and contemporary décor. If you’re staying in Sandwich, The Blazing Donkey Country House Hotel boasts luxe rooms and suites, and the Roseyard Rural Retreat is a collection of accommodations, ranging in size but all offering pure luxury.

Stay in Deal and Sandwich

Keepers Cottages are one of our go tos when it comes to seeking out cosy cottages and welcoming winter retreats. In Sandwich Richborough Manor is the perfect getaway for a big group get together, with a hot tub and cosy wood burners to really add that touch of luxe. While for smaller groups, The Hide in Deal sleeps six, with hot tub and squashy sofas for the ultimate wintry night in. Or how about Saltwater Cottage? Another Deal retreat, which sleeps four (plus your pet) and has all the charm of a beautifully renovated smugglers cottage, of course with wood burner for those fireside drinks.

Sea to Sea in Hythe

Keepers Cottages have got another top choice in Hythe. Sea to Sea is a beautiful Edwardian property, spanning three stories, and just a fifteen minute walk from beach for those blustery winter wanders. Sleeping six, you’ve got plenty of room for entertainment, with an open plan kitchen and dining area perfect for whipping up a winter warmer, and a large living room that’s made for a night of board games, catching up and sipping on mulled wine.

Sea Breeze in Whitstable

Whitstable is not just for summer, you know. Stay at the show stopping Sea Breeze and you’ll be able to explore Whitstable’s windy streets, indie shops and cosy pubs by day, before retreating to your very own showstopping stay for the evening. Sleeping four, and just minutes from the beach, it offers the perfect pre-Christmas break.

Stays in Thanet

A breath of fresh sea air, brisk winter walks and mazy, cobbled streets, our coastal towns are made for those winter escapes. Head to Thanet and you’ll have your pick of accommodation, with Manston Court in Ramsgate boasting three cottages, each offering chocolate box charm and, at The Chapel, even a baby grand piano and full size pool table! While Cheesemans Farm in Manston offers a range of apartments and suites, packed full of character and original features, including log burners and relaxing living spaces.

Cosy breaks in Canterbury

Visit Canterbury and the 600-year-old Christmas Market, returning to the Cathedral Precincts this year! With its cobbled streets, historic buildings, cosy pubs and more, Canterbury is one of our favourite winter destinations. What’s more Canterbury’s historic Cathedral makes for a memorable overnight stay, with its very own Cathedral Lodge, situated in the heart of Canterbury. With all stays including a Kentish breakfast and complimentary Cathedral access tickets, what else could you ask for during your festivities!

Rochester Cathedral Carol Concert

One of the absolute highlights of the season, the Rochester Cathedral Carol Concert returns on 14th December, but you’d better be quick to secure your tickets! Join the Cathedral Choir as they perform, and even have the chance to join in for a classic carol or two. One of the highlights of Advent, this is sure to be a magical event, adding the star to your festive celebrations.

Cooking up a storm at Kent Cookery School

Winter is ALL about the food! Join Kent Cookery School this winter and they’ll be dishing up the very best in comfort food, serving up cookery classes to add a little crème de la crème to the festive season. Choose from couples cooking with a Christmas twist, Beef Wellington Masterclasses, and even a special Festive Baking and Bubbles session, and we can guarantee you’ll be crowned star Christmas chef this year.

Feeling festive in Hythe

The grand seaside destination of the Hythe Imperial sparkles at any time of  year, but it’s simply magical at Christmas. Its beachside setting in the pretty town of Hythe is just the start of it, as the Hythe Imperial will be laying on a whole host of special events, including festive afternoon tea, lunches, party nights, and of course, the big day itself. Stay the night and those sea views are paired with Victorian grandeur and decadent interiors.
