If you're reading this it will come as little surprise to you that we here at Visit Kent believe our little corner of the UK is quite simply the place to be. The cat's pyjamas, the crème de la crème if you will...
We could sit here all day and reel off the places you "really must visit" the next time you head out on an adventure in the glorious Garden of England, but why simply take our word for it?
We've scrolled our way through the Insta-phere to bring you Kent's ultimate bucket list for 2020. Follow in the footsteps of these Insta explorers and uncover some new favourite hot spots across the Garden of England this year. And whilst you're at it, don't forget to share your photos with us and tag us at @VisitKent.
Marvellous Margate
With it's sweeping seafront, retro rides and a treasure trove of fabulous independent shops, it's no surprise colourful photos of Margate are racking up the likes across Instagram. When Queen of YouTube Zoe Sugg took a trip to our shores, a photo she shared tucking into a delicious slice at GB Pizza Co. caused thousands (422,000 to be precise) of stomachs to rumble. Take a look at Zoe's Margate Vlog here and start planning your own 'Margate Madness' escape straight away!
Beautiful Beaches
If you want to feel the sand between your toes, the wind in your hair and with an ice cream in hand, and see Instagram perfect sights set out to explore the stunning East Kent coastline. Enjoy the Margate main sands, Walpole Bay, Kingsgate bay and so much more.
Delightful Deal
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside! Charlotte Jacklin's sunny ice-cream snap from Deal has us wishing away the rest of winter and itching to get down to Kent's coast this summer. We strongly advise a scroll through Charlotte's feed which sees a whole host of cameo appearances from our beloved county's coastline; from pretty photos of Whitstable's pastel shop fronts.
Tempting Tunbridge Wells
Allow the lovely Josie (aka Fashion Mumblr) to tempt you out for a day of exploring in Royal Tunbridge Wells. Her guide to Discovering Hidden Gems in Tunbridge Wells cites Biggie Best, Susie Watson Designs, Juliets and Mount Edgcumbe as some of the 'not to be missed' hot spots, and we'll certainly be adding them to our list the next time we're in town. Take a look at Josie's round-up, and don't forget to share your hidden gems with us when you take a trip to this idyllic spa town.
Fascinating Folkestone
Forget the winding lanes and traditional seaside entertainment of Brighton - if you’re looking for culture, coast and culinary grandeur look no further than our very own Folkestone. And who better to follow for some day trip inspo, than someone who calls this sunny seaside town home? We love Bex Bell's bright and brilliant feed, full to the brim of pretty pics that make us want to don a pair of striped dungarees and take a stroll along the Harbour Arm!
Scenic Sevenoaks
Well would you just look at that view?! If this photo of the lavender fields at The Hop Shop in Sevenoaks hasn't got you instantly plotting your own floral photo shoot, we're not sure what will. The Hop Shop itself is open daily all year round, filled to the brim with farm foods, seasonal fruit, cakes and treats, cards, gifts and decorations. And for those of you who are planning to snap your own version of this purple-hued moment... Lavender Season takes place from late June until the end of July!
Stunning Scotney
Just as scenic during the winter months as it is during the summer, we couldn't leave out Kent-based influencer Georginaa's stunning photo of Scotney Castle could we? With its charming country house, romantic garden, 14th century moated castle and beautiful wooded estate, this National trust favourite is the paw-fect day out for you and your four-legged companion!
Too-good-to-miss Tenterden
Known as the 'Jewel of the Weald', charming Tenterden offers the best of all worlds; fascinating history, independent shopping and tempting eateries at every corner. One of our favourite Insta accounts to head to for our dose of West Kent inspiration is Andrea Avena's. His postcard-perfect photos of this pretty town are enough to have us lacing up our shoes and heading out for our very own countryside escape! Wanderlust Chloe is one of our absolute favourite accounts to follow when it comes to travel motivation, and we simply love her comprehensive guide of 15 Amazing Things To Do in Rochester. From high quality fruit and veg at Pips of Rochester to books galore at Baggins Book Bazaar, Chloe’s guide is filled to the brim with top tips of how to spend a memorable day in Medway!
Fabulous Faversham
The marvellous market town of Faversham was made for the likes of Instagram, with its array of independent shops, regular markets and a reputation for fine foods. Michelle (or Crazy Cat Lady London on Instagram) captured a whole host of fantastic photos when she visited Faversham with Southeastern last year, and we're already planning our own copy-cat (if you'll excuse the pun 🐱) version of her trip...
Wonderful Whitstable
Luke Abrahams, consider us fully influenced and ready for our own seaside escape to Whitstable as soon as possible! Bohemian Whitstable is home to delectable oysters, shingle beaches, independent shopping, and dazzling sea views. Say no more... we're on our way...
