Battle of Britain Memorial Trust - Photography Workshop
Wednesday 16th August
Snap away with Battle of Britain Memorial Trust on their Children’s Photography Workshop! Your kids will be shown all the best photography spots across the site, whilst receiving some tips and tricks from the instructors. Capture the angles of the stunning replica Hurricane and Spitfire, snap away at the seated airman statue and focus on the impressive architecture of the site. Not only will they have plenty of fun with their cameras, but they’ll leave the workshop with some impressive images, a certificate, an exclusive souvenir propeller pin, and the chance to be feature in the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust newsletter and social media as part of an exclusive competition!
Jousting at Hever Castle
The Knights of Royal England will be arriving at Hever Castle this summer! Oh yes, now’s your chance the gather the family for an entertaining day out, as you watch the brave knights battle it out on saddle and on foot. Watch from the medieval spectator stands or bring your picnic blanket as you watch with action, stunts falls and fights, in a competition to becoming the ultimate champion! Who will you be cheering on?
Entrance to the Jousting Tournament is included in a Gardens Only or Castle & Gardens admission ticket.
Kent Cookery School
Fancy getting a little creative in the kitchen this summer? No, not your own kitchen, we’re talking about with Kent Cookery School! If the answer to that question is yes, then you’ve come at the right time, as they have launched a brand new summer cookery package, just in time for the school holidays. This is the perfect chance for you and your teen to get stuck into a new hobby for the summer and bond over food – what better way to do it!
Clash of the Knights at Dover Castle
We’ve got more knight action coming your way for the summer as an all-action contest takes to Dover Castle where a team of knights battle it out for victory! Watch as the brave knights participate in this adrenaline-fuelled combat, with clubs and shields to take them all the way! After watching all the action, we’re sure your young knights will want to get involved. They can take part in drills to experience the battle for themselves.

Richborough Roman Fort
Have you got a little historian who is fascinated by roman history? Then we might just have found the ideal day out! Head to Richborough Roman Fort in Sandwich and learn all about how Richborough was a key site in the history of Roman Britain. There’s unique Roman artefacts to be discovered as well as the remains of the amphitheatre and even amazing views from the top of the replica Roman gateway!
Dreamland
It wouldn’t be a summer holiday without a trip to Dreamland. With so much for the whole family to enjoy, from rides, amusements and roller disco, and of course the awesome events lined-up for the summer, including Margate Soul Festival, Margate Pride and even Olly Murs.
Kent Surf School
We’ve got just the thing for those looking for a splashing time this summer…or perhaps looking to learn a new skill? If so, we think you should give Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) a go with Kent Surf School! Learn from their experienced instructors in a SUP lesson, tailored to your needs.
Take a look at the other courses on offer and develop your skills and learn a new activity! Sounds like just the thing your child will be telling their friends about when they go back to school!
Canoe Wild
We’re carrying on the water activities and couldn’t not tell you about Canoe Wild and their range of things to do, perfect for a family day out! With sites at both Grove Ferry and Fordwich you and your family can choose from canoe hire, kayak hire, or stand up paddleboarding. There are also courses available if you really want to make this your new summer hobby!
Howletts Wild Animal Park
Now who doesn’t love a good family day out at Howletts Wild Animal Park, and if you’ve never been, well now’s your chance! This is a perfect day for the whole family to enjoy, where you can meet so many rare and endangered animals amongst the 90-acre ancient parkland. Fancy making your visit even more special? Then why not take part in their Experience Days and Animal encounters where you’ll get to meet your favourite animals close up.
