Kent Coastal Experience
Experience Kent Coast with England Plus Tours on day out, which highlights several natural features of the area, including the White Cliffs of Dover, St Margaret’s Bay and the unique Samphire Hoe Nature Reserve.
After being picked up in Dover or Folkestone, a short drive takes you to the fabled White Cliffs, where you can take a guided walk whilst listening to stories about the Cliffs and the treacherous English Channel down below. This presents an excellent opportunity for photographers, bird lovers and anyone who appreciates natural beauty at its absolute best.
After stopping to admire the impressive Dover Patrol Monument, walk down the Leas enjoying views of picturesque St Margaret’s Bay, the one-time home of British author Ian Fleming and playwright Sir Noel Coward. Lunch is provided at their favourite eco-friendly café, where you will be able to sample some homemade specialities and learn all about ‘Hellfire Corner’, as this area was known during WW2.
Driving along the coast past the imposing Norman Castle of Dover, you will soon reach Samphire Hoe. Nestled between the chalk cliffs and the waters of the English Channel, this unique 30-hectare nature reserve was reclaimed from the sea during the construction of the Channel Tunnel in the early 1990s. England Plus Tours have recently formed a partnership with Samphire Hoe, where the rangers have kindly agreed to share some of their expert knowledge and experience and will give you an introductory talk on what is England’s newest piece of land. You will then have time to take a walk and explore the amazing Hoe for yourselves.
