We’ve been sharing the epic Kent adventure that Charlie & Jess (@the.travel.project) and Sade (@inmysundaybest) have been on in The Garden of England this winter, exploring the exciting new offerings you might not have known were on your doorstep right here and finding what your perfect #KentExperience looks like.
They’ve been to the coast, countryside and city as part of their whirlwind adventure, sampling sparkling wines or delectable gins, getting creative with upcycling workshops and even some intense cold-water swimming and axe throwing! You can check out all of their adventures over on our Instagram - but they’ve packed so much into their trip that we thought we’d give you a rundown of the journey! Pencils at the ready! We’ll have quite the 2022 itinerary by the end of this...
Adorable micro pigs, miniature donkeys, teddy bear sheep and alpaca walking adventures… is it too cute to be true? Our three content creators started the adventure at Huckleberry Woods, a small, family-run rustic farm in the heart of Kent’s countryside specialising in micro-animals! We gave these city kids a slice of the countryside action by cuddling chickens and feeding the sheep...
Now, where better to head after that than a North Kent favourite that offers high-spirited fun, and delectable riverside dining? Sade, Charlie and Jess headed to the charming Copper Rivet Distillery in Chatham to learn how they make and produce their range of spirits, see first-hand the distilling process in action, and experiment with flavour profiling in their laboratory - before savouring some of the distillery’s spirits for themselves of course!
The next day we let them unleash their creative sides at The Upcycled Trading Company nestled within Folkestone’s Creative Corner. Specialising in all things sustainable, this heart-centred business provides a selection of workshops for any curious creatives eager to try their hand at upcycling. They put their artistic skills to the test, got quite competitive, and even got a bit of East Kent to take home with them...
From the creative to the calming, the team met Lisa from Coast & Country Rambles to explore the uninterrupted views of Appledore and discover the growing interest in walking holidays! C&C can organise your trails, and accommodation ranging from cosy country pubs to shepherds huts if you're ready to extend your countryside retreat...
You couln't head to Appledore without a stop at the luxurious Gusbourne Estate! Sade, Charlie and Jess set off on a tour arond the vines, learning about the winemaking process before, of course, sampling their collection with their expert winer makers! Sade's favourite was the 2017 Rosé... why not pop in and discover your tipple of choice?
After treating their palates, we thought it was time to treat their mind and body alike to a relaxing, meditative experience with a Tai Chi class on the coast. With classes both inside at various venues and outside on the beach in Dover, Deal and Eastry, Bright Moon aspires to relax and restore with this low impact, slow motion exercise that practices deep breathing and focussed attention... perfect for reconnecting to yourself in today's hectic times.
While Charlie explored coastal running (complete with an icy dip in the sea!) with Primal Roots, Sade and Jess took to an adrenaline-fuelled afternoon of axe throwing with Battle Masters at The Panic Room in Gravesend. Yes, you heard that right! Urban Axe Throwing is an exciting new take on an old tradition - perfect for enjoying as part of a group - meaning this day out is bound to be bang on target for you and your friends in 2022...
